In 1850, the Mongolian astrologer and monk Sokpo Sherab Gayasto was the first major monk. He founded this monastery. He was a Tibetan monk. He was the head of the monastery until 1905. Then he returned to his home country of Tibet. Then Lama Domo Geshe Rinpoche was appointed in 1909, Dhardo Rimpoche in 1961, and Tenzin Legshad Wandi in 1990.
