Garumara National Park is a biodiversity sanctuary in India. Garumara National Park is one of the major national parks in India. It was officially declared an Indian National Park in 1994. The beauty and biodiversity of this national park has touched everyone's mind. This national park has won various titles from all over the world including India.
It is spread over an area of about 80 sq km in the foothills of the Himalayas with a variety of flora and fauna. It is located on the banks of the Raidak River in the Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal, India. The park is full of Riverine, Grasslands, Deep Forests, Insects, Birds, Reptiles and Mammals. There is also more emphasis on Asiatic Single-Horned Rhinos, Asian Elephants and Bengal Tigers.

The park has 50 species of mammals. Among them are Asian Elephant, Bear, Bengal Tiger, Barking Deer, Cat, Cheetah, Chital, Gaur, Hoga Deer, Indian Rhinoceros, Mangoz, Pygmy Hagar, Rat, Sambar Deer, Wild Pig & Wild Dog.
Birds
There are 194 species of birds in the park. These include Almond Peacocks, Asian Paradise Flycatchers, Indian Hornbills, Scarlet Minivet, Sunbird, Spanlod Drongo & Woodpecker
Reptiles
There are 22 species of venomous and non-venomous reptiles in the park. However, Indian Pythons and King Cobras are more common. There are also 7 species of tortoises.
Fishs
There are 27 species of fish in the park. Two rivers named Murti, Raidag and Jaldhaka flow through this park which is a tributary of Brahmaputra river. As a result, different species of fish can be found in the river.
Gorumara National Park Safari
The main attraction of Gorumara National Park is the jungle safari. Tourists gather here every year for this safari. Wildlife travel is incomplete without jungle safaris. Deep forest can be entered with the help of safari car and guide man. Truly a strange feeling. There are three types of safaris in this park such as Jeep Safari, Elephant Safari and Bullock Cart safari. These safari vehicles stop at various view points such as Jatraprasad Watch Tower, Rhino Watch Tower (View Point For Rhinos), Chandrachur Watch Tower, Chukchuki Watch Tower ( View Point For Birds) etc.
Jeep Safari
The car entered the deep forest with a driver, a guide man and 6 tourists. On the way there are numerous plants, dense forests, animals and rivers. Everyone is busy saving all these memories in his mobile gallery.
Elephant Safari
Elephant safari means entering the deep forest on the back of a big elephant. In this safari, an elephant driver, along with a guide man and seven tourists, slowly enter the forest through the jungle path. Numerous plants, small insects, animals, etc. are seen on the way. The only reason to go on the elephant safari is to get good view of the wildlife up close.
Bullock Cart Safari
A carriage that is pulled by two bulls by placing two large wheeled car frames on the shoulders of two bulls. The driver, guide man and six to seven tourists entered the deep forest in this car.
Jatraprasad Watch Tower Gorumara National Park
Jatraprasad Watch Tower is the main view point of Garumara National Park. The name of a legendary elephant was Jatra Prasad. This elephant was a forest worker in the forest department. The Watch Tower is named after his death, Jatraprasad Was Tower. This Watch Tower offers a spectacular view of the Garumara Sanctuary. In front of it there is a Murti river. Enjoy its sweetness. Sitting here, you can see some wild animals like rhinos, peacocks and other birds.

Best Time To Visit Gorumara National Park
Garumara National Park is open all year round except during the monsoon season. In Bengal, June and July are known as monsoon. This time it rains a lot so the park stays closed. The best time to visit this park is from October to March. However, from December to February, a large number of tourists visit the sanctuary.

Garumara National Park is open daily. This park trip is three times in the morning, noon and afternoon. Ticket permits are required one to half an hour before each tip.

how to visit gorumara national park
By Air: The nearest airport is Bagdogra International Airport (IXB). You can get off at Bagdogra Airport, hire a taxi or take a public bus to reach the park.
By Rail: You can get off at New Mainaguri Railway Station, Chalsa or Jalpaiguri Railway Junction, then hire a taxi or take a public bus to reach the park. New Jalpaiguri Railway Junction is a major railway junction. Located 42 km from New Jalpaiguri.
By Road: If you come by your own car or rental car then you have to enter this park through Chalsa or Lataguri. Because this sanctuary is located in the middle of Chalsa and Lataguri. It is only 10 km away from Chalsa.
