The Marble Palace is one of the most famous architectures in Kolkata. Because the architecture, sculpture, craftsmanship and interior design of this palace are incomparable. It was built in 1835 by the wealthy Bengali merchant Raja Rajendra Mallick Bahadur for his residence, where his descendants still live. This palace is known to all of us as the Marble Palace. At present, the palace has become a prominent tourist destination and museum in Kolkata. The museum contains some of the artifacts that the king collected from 90 countries to decorate his finale. The museum is well-decorated with many of the attractions that tourists from far and wide come to see. It is located at Muktaram Babu Street, Kolkata, West Bengal. Kolkata is called the Building city of India because of the numerous architectures scattered all over Kolkata.
Marble Palace Kolkata History
This nineteenth-century marble palace still stands that way. And even today the name of Raja Rajendra Mallick remains. He was the son of Nilmoni Mallick. Neelmani Mallick was a well-known big rich merchant of yesteryear. In the old days, everyone knew him by one name. He became a prominent figure by building a marble Jagannath temple in Kolkata.
The house was built by King Rajendra Mallick in 1835 in a three-storey Neoclassical style. In front of it are Chainese pavilion-style Frenchwork, ornate Corinthian pillars and ornate porchs. The palace is also surrounded by The Open Courtyard, A Thakur-Dalan, A Rock Garden, A Lawn Garden In The Courtyard, Marble statues, A lake and Zoo Etc.

The Marble Palace is currently divided into five halls for the convenience of tourists. They are The Reception Hall, The Painting Room, The Sculpture House, The Billiards Room and The Thakur Dalan (Temple). Each of these sections is decorated with various historical items of the king's house such as Artists, Clocks, Jugs, Large Chandeliers, Various Sculptures, Large Mirrors, Peter Paul Rubens, Victorian Furniture and Various Paintings By Indian etc.
